when we pulled up in the parking lot we saw this little guy and the kids thought he was so funny!!
the first thing we did was go eat at the restaurant...we were all starving! i remember when we were little and mom and dad would take us there and how good it was. it's still just as good. we ate way too much but it was delicious. after that we did some shopping in the old country store. the kids had brought some money in case they found something they wanted. jared looked at the guns, abby looked at the stuffed animals...but in the end the both just left with sour gummy worms. we had fun playing in the store and taking pics though.
after playing around in the store for a little while we went over to the casey jones museum. of course, we had lost our receipt from the restaurant that gave us a free adult ticket...but the lady working was was so nice! she took us at our word and she also let jared go in free! (he's 6 and it was supposed to be 5 and under.) that was a nice surprise : ) the museum was nothing huge or fancy but the kids liked seeing all of the train pictures and parts and jesse and i enjoyed reading up on the story of casey jones. after you walked through the museum you could climb up on a replica of his train and then walk through his old house.
our last stop was back to the restaurant to visit the old time ice cream shop.
when we got home that night abby said "this was a really fun day"...and i think we all agreed! : )
